Gers Property For Sale

Map of Midi-Pyrénées

The Gers is the heart of the ancient province of Gascony and Gers property is set amidst such picturesque rolling countryside that the area is known as “little Tuscany”.

This is considered France’s most rural département and with industry non existant Gers property owners possibly enjoy France’s cleanest air, quietest roads, lowest populations and highest quality of life!

The population is mainly clustered in the capital Auch (25,000 people) and Condom (only 7,000). Property here in the north is more expensive but residents benefit from a micro-climate with mild winters and warm summers.

Property in Gers is only 90 minutes from Toulouse, Bordeaux, Bergerac and Pau airports and about the same journey time from the ski stations of the Pyrénées and the crashing breakers of the Atlantic coast. You can access the high speed TGV train to Paris and other destinations thanks to the TGV station at Agen.

Property prices drop away as you move further south where the grand limestone buildings give way to clay brick and half-timbered “colombage” houses - property to renovate is more likely to be found here.

Peace and quiet, natural beauty and wildlife are the chief attractions of the Gers – but for the bon viveurs amongst you don’t forget it is also home to foie gras and Armagnac!
