View All PropertiesParticularly sought after in the north of the département is Ruffec property – this picturesque ‘ville fleurie’ on the banks of the River Charente even has its own TGV station with trains to Paris and Bordeaux. Close by Nanteuil en Vallée and Verteuil sur Charente are charming villages and further south Mansle is a pretty town also set on the Charente River.
Property prices increase as you move further south and east. Cognac property prices reflect the international renown of its brandy and the tourist draw of what is a very pretty medieval town. Nearby Jarnac property is less expensive despite the fact that it is right on the River Charente and makes for an idyllic location.
Property in Angoulême is the most expensive as this is the departmental capital and there is a strong rental market. Known as the ‘Versailles of Charente’ this ancient Roman city peers down from behind its ramparts and among many other festivals hosts the famous classic car ‘Tour des Remparts’ in September.
