I'm , the local here, and I'm very pleased to offer you, in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region of France this 2-bedroom cedar-wood house built in 2004, facing a beautiful stretch of the Vienne river with open countryside on the opposite bank. With large front and rear gardens, both flat, two garages, a conservatory facing the river, a summer house facing the back, and underfloor heating, this makes for a cozy and lovely place to spend all seasons. The back garden faces onto open countryside, and the street is very quiet. The fabulous and spacious main room (38m2) is open with the kitchen, plus there are two downstairs bedrooms each with a private shower room/WC, and a WC/utility room. Also from the main room, you access the veranda, garage, a study, and the summer house. There is private parking in the drive for three cars, the house is connected to the mains drains, is double-glazed, and fibre internet is available. The house was built using Canadian cedar wood. Wood houses are up to 15% more thermally efficient than conventional houses, with the wood acting as a thermal mass to store heat this means that it takes less energy to heat (or cool) the house. Cedar is also highly repellent to wood-boring insects, and naturally resistant to fungi, bacteria, moisture and decay, and should typically last well over a hundred years, so comparable to a conventional modern home, hence the popularity of cedar for log houses. Indeed, cedar is sometimes used in wardrobes and as coat hangers, due to being naturally repellent to moths. With its low moisture content and low shrinkage, cedar requires very little maintenance. Despite the tranquil location, the town of L'Isle Jourdain is only 3km away, and has about 1300 people, six café-restaurants, a bakery, garden centre, garage, supermarket, pharmacy, doctors and dentists, a swimming pool, water skiing and zip wires across the river Vienne. So the location is a perfect mix of a secluded countryside setting, and being close to amenities.
